Case Review Although Michael was in fact convicted of burglary, he also tested positive for heroin and marijuana. Michael is an adult male 50 years of age, he has a history of prior convictions such as, †¢ Driving under the influence †¢ Disorderly conduct †¢ Attempted burglary †¢ Drug possession †¢ Receiving stolen property With this information noted it determines that Michael is a repeat offender and have not receive any treatment for his dependence. There are many things to considered as it pertains to his addiction, one being the lack of effort from the criminal justice system to assist Michael with treatment options. Understanding and patience will be the approach to Michael, this is his first time receiving assistance with his drug addictions so he must be educated and have a treatment plan (Argosy, 2016) Alcohol, heroin and marijuana are related to Michael’s drug abuse therefore they must be address first. The root to his convictions is addiction, so if they drug abuse is addressed first then what he is convicted of can help him becoming more willing to accept the things he has done. The other areas are Michael’s attempt to burglary and receiving stolen property, this may be in relation to him stealing to supply himself with his drug of choice. The instrument of treatment that will be suit Michael will be individual counseling then merging in group counseling. This will be a fundamental instrument because of the advantages that come with this form of treatment.
